Dear Folks at Home:-

     This is just going to be a short note to let you know that I am getting along O.K.

     I had a little operation on my arm last Monday and had the piece of shrapnel taken out so now it is only a question of time until the wound heals up.  It is purely a flesh wound as it didn’t go deep enough for the bone so there is nothing to worry over.

     Have been in bed ever since the operation and have been on light diet, but really I wasn’t even sick at the stomach after the chloroform as I was only under it for about fifteen minutes.

     This hospital is three miles from the city of Norwich and is certainly in a nice quiet place.  I expect that I will be taking a trip to Norwich as soon as I get up again.

     Am beginning to feel quite at home both with the other fellows in the ward and the nurses who are a jolly bunch.

     Will write again about Sunday
