Letters From the Front

Dear Folks at Home:-

This is just going to be a short note to let you know that we are still well and flourishing in our usual happy condition. We Are having a rather busy time at present and haven't much opportunity for writing letters. I sent you a couple of Field Post Cards last week but am not sure if you would get them or not but this “green envelope” ought to travel straight through so I am sending it along.

The other day I met Bill Roberts and Russel Ernst . They called around to see us one morning and they both look well.

I suppose you will see by the papers that old Fritz is on the run and we are all confident that we will be home by Christmas at least. Of course I know they say that every year but I firmly believe that 1918 is “Our Year” and by the present outlook we have every reason to be optomistic.

I received Mother's welcome letter of July 14th telling how she had been over to Paisley again. I hope Grandma is feeling much better by this time.

Harold Morrison is with us now as he came up to us last night. Harry Steele wanted to come with him but he was shipped off to another unit. Certainly hard luck eh but as the French say “C'est la guerre”. Give Wells¹ a chance to look up his French on that.

Well I must close now and will write at greater length as soon as I get an opportunity. So “cheerio” for the present.
