FRONTIERSMEN ARE RECRUITING IN CITY

Commandant Oxley, of the new 210th Frontiersmen's battalion, a picturesque figure in his Stetson and frontiersman's uniform, is in the city today making arrangements to open a recruiting office here for his battalion.  Through the kindness of Mr. Nelson a building has been secured alongside the Orpheum theatre and recruits are now being accepted there.

The frontiersman's battalion is being recruited from the district comprising Saskatchewan and southern Alberta, with mobilization headquarters at Moose Jaw.  Already about 500 men have been enrolled.  The regiment is peculiarly attractive to army and navy frontiersmen of all kinds.  No previous military experience is necessary, merely physical fitness.

The original Princess Pats was the first frontiersman's battalion and already 25 or 30 of the returned "Pats" have enlisted with the new unit.

All promotions are made right from the ranks, no outside influence being recognized.  Though half recruited, the unit has only five or six officers, all acting in staff positions for the purpose of organization.

Commandant Oxley himself is a veteran of many wars and has seen service in Egypt, Africa, India and latterly in Mexico.  He is accompanied here by Lieut. Macourt.
