To Wm. Richardson, 112 Cromwell St. Sarnia
Hello Bill, Just thought I would write and let you know that I am living yet. We had a nice trip over to England and a good time there. I was home for a holiday for a couple of weeks, but we have moved over to France. It is certainly fine over here. All the farmers have their spring crops up now. Well, Bill, we have had a taste of war now. We have been in the trenches and are out for a rest so I thought I would drop you a few lines. There is no pool playing out here, we play football. It doesn’t seem like war at all, but when we get in the trenches it’s a lot different; but we are a merry bunch of fellows. They are singing now and I am getting all balled up in the writing. Well I hope it will soon be over, so that I can get back to Canada, but we can never tell whether we will see it again. Of course we came over to stop a bullet so we all can’t expect to come back. Well Bill, I think that is all this time, I will write more next. So good-bye. Write soon. I remain yours truly,
ALBERT SMITH
