Capt. H. D. Kingstone, M.C., Gets Order of St. Stanislaus.

London, Jan. 15. -- The following Canadians are gazetted to Russian decorations:

Order of the White Eagle: General Sir R. W. Turner,¹ commanding the Canadian forces in England.

Order of St. Anne, different classes: Lieut.-Col. Victor Anderson, Maj. Franklin Collins, Lt.-Col. Harold MacDonald, Maj. Furry Montague, Col. Frank Morrison, Lt.-Col. Edgar Hope, Maj. Doyle Rochfort, Maj. Edward Weyman, Col. George Murphy, Lieut. Nowitsky, Maj. Gordon Culister.

Order of St. Stanislaus: General Carson, Brig.-Gen Duncan McInnis, Maj. John McAughey; Capt. John Diamond, Frank Edwards, Herbert Kingstone, Livius Sherwood, Charles Yates; Lieuts. Rolfe Harstone, Frederick McKenney, Clifton Smith, Harold Strang, Victor Ullman, Thomas Williams.

A number of Canadian privates receive the Order of Saint George.

Capt. Herbert D. Kingstone, M.C., 29 Scarth road, is a nephew of Chief of Police Grasett. He went overseas from Montreal with the 24th Battalion, Victoria Rifles, in May, 1915. He was reported wounded in April, 1916, and again the following September. Later he was erroneously reported dead. On Nov. 17 it was officially announced he had been awarded the Military Cross.

The Order of the White Eagle is one of the highest in Russia. It was founded in 1713 by Augustus II, of Poland, and was adopted as a Russian Order in 1831. There is only one class. The Order of St. Anne was founded by Charles Frederick, Duke of Holstein-Goldthorp, in 1735, and was adopted as a Russian Order in 1797 by the Emperor Paul. There are four classes.

The Order of St. Stanislaus was also originally Polish and was adopted by Russia in 1831. The Order of St. George is a military order, its fifth class being for N.C.O.'s and men.
