Mr. Thicke has a letter from Pte. Charles, dated Jan. 6, written just before leaving for the trenches. The boys were evidently receiving all the attention, comforts and pleasure before their entry to the trench duty. They had paraded to the bath houses, then to a concert, then another concert during the evening which was contributed to by the boys themselves. Charlie being one of four from his Company to assist, then to a café, where they dined well, and were entertained to music.
