Receives a Stripe

Billy Thomas has been given a stripe and is now Lance-Corporal. A letter from him dated Aug. 19th, has been received by his mother. He writes in the best of spirits and mentions papers and letters he had received, saying how glad they were to receive news from home. He tells his folks not to worry, as he expects to be home for Christmas dinner as the Kaiser says the war will be over by then. That night they were going into the trenches. He comments on the N.L. Firemen having done so well at Midland and wished he had been with them. Angus and he are still together.
