Well Done, Tom
Tom Longboat, the champion Marathon runner, was amongst the first to enlist to go to the Old Country as a soldier. When the officer objected to Tom because he was married, he insisted that he must go and fight for his country, and they let him go. Tom ought to be a good one on the forward march.
Contrary to what this article reports, there is no evidence that Tom Longboat attempted to enlist prior to February 1916.
