Death of Pte. Samuel James Alberta

New Liskeard Speaker

Dated: July 19, 1917

Pte. Sam Alberta Killed

News was received late last week that Pte. Sam Alberta, son of Mr. Alberta of this town and brother of Mrs. P. Wyatt, had been killed while on the firing line in France, on the 29th ult. The news will cause deep regret amongst our townpeople, and their deep sympathy is extended the relatives. The late Pte. Alberta enlisted with the Parry Sound Battalion, he having been employed at the munition plant at the time of his enlistment. Andrew and Malcolm Grant, also of New Liskeard, enlisted in the same Battalion with the deceased.

Mrs. P. Wyatt is one of Pte. Alberta's older sisters, Margaret Pearl.

The munition plant referred to is believed to be the Canadian Explosives Limited plant in Nobel (near Parry Sound).
