At Bow Street Police Court yesterday, before Mr. Graham Campbell, James Woods, 38, porter, of Princeton Street, Red Lion Square, and John Benjamin West, an Australian soldier, were charged with being concerned with a third man not in custody in assaulting and robbing Sergeant Samuel McKenzie , of the Canadian Artillery Reserve.

It was stated that the prosecutor had been drinking with the prisoner West and other men in a public house in Floral street, Covent Garden. Some disagreement arose and he went outside, where he was surrounded by the prisoners and others. Someone struck him a violent blow on the head, knocking him down, and as he lay on the ground his pockets were picked, his money and military papers were taken.

The soldiers were committed for trial at the Central Criminal Court.
