Four besides these are given the title of Sir, and two more are made C.M.G.s. Add to these General Hughes honourary colonels and realize how the number of titled gentlemen grows. Canadians form one of the most purely democratic populations in the world and the general sentiment regarding the multiplying of artificial distinctions between man and men is one of resentment and disgust.
