Notes

Lepage was single, Roman Catholic and a farmer. He was born on 11 March 1896 in Huntingdon County, Quebec, and was living in Huntingdon when called up. Xavier Lepage, his father, was his next of kin. The assigned-pay ledger initially named the father/payee as Olivier Lepage, but later pay-branch records document correction of the assignee name to Xavier Lepage. His medical examination recorded height 5 feet 2 inches, weight 112 pounds, chest 32 to 34 inches, medium complexion, blue eyes, brown hair, good physical development and Category A2.

Additional Service Notes

Louis Lepage was drafted under the Military Service Act and attested at Montreal on 15 July 1918 as Private 3167034 with the 2nd Depot Battalion, 2nd Quebec Regiment. He embarked from Canada on 10 August 1918, arrived in England on 25 August and was taken on strength of the 10th Canadian Reserve Battalion at Bramshott. He remained in England with the reserve battalion until June 1919. The service records show him struck off strength of the 10th Canadian Reserve Battalion in the Ripon return-to-Canada sequence on 24-25 June. A later demobilization entry gives District Depot No. 4 Dispersal Station F, Montreal, an effective date of 25 June, although his embarkation form states that he sailed from England on 26 June. This one-day administrative overlap is preserved as a source discrepancy rather than forced into a false physical sequence. He returned to Canada and was discharged at Montreal on 4 July 1919 on demobilization.

Additional Next of Kin Notes

Xavier Lepage, father, Huntingdon, Quebec, was next of kin. Assigned-pay records initially named the father/payee as Olivier Lepage; later pay-branch material records a correction of the assignee name and identifies Mr. Xavier Lepage. The corrected name is therefore retained as Xavier.
