Service Biography

Telesphore Emond was born at Ormstown, Quebec, on 10 April 1911. He completed Grade 8 and before the war worked as a farm helper and then as a truck driver for Callum Lumber Co. in Huntingdon. He enlisted for active service at Westmount, Quebec, on 4 July 1940 as Private D-106208; his occupation on enlistment was recorded as labourer. He served with the Royal Montreal Regiment, Royal 22e Régiment and Régiment de la Chaudière, qualified as a driver mechanic, Group C, and completed 63 months of service, including 52 months overseas in the United Kingdom and Northwest Europe. He returned to Canada in September 1945. After treatment for acute glomerular nephritis he was discharged at Montreal on 30 January 1946 as medically unfit. Telesphore Emond died on 12 September 1971.
