Service Biography

George Arthur Smith was born at Howick, Quebec, on 17 July 1888. A single Presbyterian sales manager living in Westmount, he joined the Canadian Expeditionary Force at Montreal on 30 May 1918 as Private 3084977 with the 1st Depot Battalion, 1st Quebec Regiment. He was discharged at Montreal on 6 June 1918 for the purpose of re-enlisting in the Royal Air Force.
