Served with the 72nd Battery, C.F.A., No. 3 Depot Field Battery, C.F.A. in Barriefield (Kingston).
Discharged on 30 December, 1918
Medical observations on discharge:
Subjective: Man states that he tires easily and that he readily becomes short of breath. If he chops wood for a short time (say 10-15 minutes) he has to sit down to 'Get his breath'. Also he notices that climbing stairs or running will make him breath very fast at these times or after any moderate exertion he has frequent attacks of sharp pain over heart. Pain is referred to back and down left arm. He is inclined to be drowsy and sleeps a lot. He notices that exertion or excitement makes heart beat fast.
Objective: Definite soft murmur best heard at apex. Systolic in time and transmitted to axilla. Pulse, man at rest, 90.10 sec. Double mark time raises it to 140, returns to 100 in 4 mins. Respirations are raised to 25 per minute on above exertion. Heart does not show appreciable hypertrophy.
Man has noticed above condition for more than a year. Does not give a history of disease.
Man states that condition is worse since enlistment.
Classified as Category C3: Home Service, Canada only.
Disability not due to, but likely aggravated by service.
