A healthy and energetic looking young man of good medium built (5?411 - 121 lbs.) he impresses as being intelligent, alert and cooperative. His attitude throughout the interview was quite good in fact. He converses easily with good common sense. Speaks in a soft but firm voice and presents himself with confidence and self assurance
He Is not at all opposed to military service and states he will willingly cooperate if further extension of leave is not granted; but strongly believes at the moment he is far more useful for his country as a farmer.

Mr. Ouimet (father) owns a farm located in the said parish and covering 175 acres, 143 of which are cultivated. The remainder is wooded; in addition, a sugar refinery with 1,800 maple trees. His herd consists of 19 milk cows, 24 heifers and calves, 4 breeding sows, 27 young pigs, and a chicken coop with 100 hens. This farmer also grows special crops such as seed peas (4 acres), potatoes (6 acres), etc. He operates this farm alone, along with another son, aged 17. You realize from the information mentioned above, that this farmer absolutely needs the help of his other son, without which he will become discouraged or at least be forced to significantly reduce his production and his herd, while our governments are demanding that all agricultural production be intensified.

The following is an extract from a letter which I have just received regarding the above named soldier:
"On my arrival home a farmer came to me saying that the military police had taken his son off the tractor while he was working in the field seeding.
This Is one of the very misfortunate things that happen at this particular season of the year. This man owns and operates a large farm and this boy was the only help he had and it is causing a tremendous lot of criticism.In this vicinity.
