Corporal Blais lost his life while serving in Ismalia, Egypt; he was one of three Canadian soldiers who perished when the vehicle they were in collided with an Egyptian military vehicle. Corporal Neilson EDWARDS and Corporal Robert Wayne MILLER also lost their lives in the accident.
The accident occurred late December 24, 1974 near the Canadian camp at Ismailla about 60 miles northwest of Cairo
